Anal play for beginners: safety and lubrication basics
Safe anal play comes down to five things: start with a small toy, use plenty of lubricant, only use toys with a flared base so they cannot travel inside, go slowly, and stop if anything hurts. The body does not lubricate itself there, so lubricant is not optional.
Which toy should a beginner start with?
A small plug or a slim string of anal beads. Plugs are held in place and let the body get used to the sensation; beads are inserted and removed one at a time and are the gentlest way to start. Why does the toy need a flared base?
Because the rectum does not have a natural stop the way the vagina does. A toy without a wide base or a retrieval loop can be drawn fully inside and need medical removal. Every anal toy we sell has a flared base or a handle for this reason. Never improvise with an object that does not.
Which lubricant is best for anal play?

How do you prepare?
Go to the toilet beforehand and wash normally; that is enough for most people. An anal douche with warm water gives extra reassurance but is not required, and doing it often can irritate. Trim nails, relax, and take time: arousal and patience matter more than any product.
What should you never do?
